We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual to join our Catering Team as a Chef. You'll be working 5 days a week across a flexible 7-day rota (including some weekends), preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals from fresh ingredients.

Job Responsibilities
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To produce tasty wholesome meals from fresh ingredients, which reflect excellent culinary standards, whilst promoting great customer service with the aim to exceed expectations.
2. To ensure your shift is managed effectively within the catering department and that the highest standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained.
3. Ensure every patient's individual nutritional needs are consistently met.
4. Supervise the preparation and production of meals, including our busy Meals on Wheels service, as well as supporting with food service and cleaning duties.
5. Promote attractive meal presentation and work to minimise waste wherever possible.
6. Always maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the catering department.
7. Ensure the electronic food safety system is updated accurately and that cleaning tasks are completed to the required standard on allocated shifts.
8. Manage stock levels effectively, ensuring proper rotation and that all items meet the Hospice's food safety requirements.
9. Provide catering for special functions as required including buffets, themed menus, and off-site events supporting Hospice activities.
10. Adhere to all Hospice policies and procedures, particularly those related to food safety and hygiene.
11. Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and respect in all interactions.
12. Contribute to ongoing menu and service development.
13. Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and Hospice colleagues to support a positive and caring environment.
14. Complete all mandatory training and support the development of junior team members, including 1-to-1s and on-the-job training.
15. Support the maintenance and use of the E-Rota system for scheduling.
16. Report any faulty equipment promptly and ensure repairs and maintenance are followed up as necessary.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of professional kitchen in either a commercial or healthcare setting
* Previous care catering or hospitality experience
Education, Qualifications & Training
* City & Guilds 706/1/2 or NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Level 3 or above food safety qualification or be willing to gain.
* Knowledge of special dietary requirements and allergy management
* Must take great pride in what you do and always be prepared to go the extra mile
* Calm under pressure
* Ability to lead by example
Health/Physical
* This position can be physically & mentally demanding - you will need to be physically fit together with good health & an excellent attendance record
