Job Title: SEND Primary Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support - Year 1) Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Contract Type: Long-term role with potential to go permanent Leader Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Primary Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil in a mainstream primary school in Wakefield. This role is ideal for a patient and enthusiastic TA with experience in SEND, particularly supporting young children with additional needs. Responsibilities: Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with SEND, ensuring their academic and personal development. Assist with classroom engagement, behaviour management, and differentiated learning activities tailored to the child's EHCP. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies that promote learning and progress. Support the child's social and emotional well-being, encouraging confidence and independence. Use creative and adaptive methods to engage the pupil in lessons and school activities. Maintain accurate records of progress and provide regular feedback to teachers and parents. The Successful Candidate Will Have: Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school setting. A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or relevant experience). Strong communication and behaviour management skills. A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting learning. A valid enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
