Job Summary As our first dedicated in-house construction solicitor, you will provide legal advice and support on a wide range of construction-related matters. This is a fantastic opportunity for a solicitor with ideally 2-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to advance their career in a supportive and collaborative environment. The role offers a great opportunity to get involved in projects of local or national importance against a dynamic legal landscape arising out of the Building Safety Act 2022. As a result, the role offers the potential for significant exposure to Heads of Function and senior leaders across the Taylor Wimpey group. Whilst the role is best suited to a non-contentious construction solicitor, it offers an excellent opportunity to work with our leading external legal advisors and counsel as the key internal contact between our external legal teams and the in-house cladding team. The initial focus in the role will be to establish a close relationship with the Taylor Wimpey cladding team and Business Units to support our significant cladding remediation and recovery matters across the UK. This role sits within the group legal team, reporting to the Taylor Wimpey UK Legal Director. The team currently comprises of a commercial and operations solicitor, a dispute resolution solicitor and the Taylor Wimpey data protection team. It is critical that the successful candidate is a team-player, accountable, personable and willing to go the extra mile when required to help deliver our goals. Primary Responsibilities Legal Compliance: Supporting our business in relation to its construction activities to deliver key projects in a timely and compliant manner. Ensuring that our cladding remediation activities comply with current laws, regulations, self-remediation terms and industry standards. Contract Management: With specialist external legal support, draft and negotiate contracts related to cladding projects, including agreements with contractors, suppliers, and consultants. Cladding Projects: Act as the in-house legal lead for all cladding related queries and projects. This role will be the main conduit between our external legal advisors and the Taylor Wimpey cladding remediation team. Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with cladding remediation, providing strategic advice to senior management as to cladding and other building safety risks. Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with internal teams, external contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure legal and safety standards are met. Cladding Recovery: Assist the cladding team by procuring timely and concise external legal advice to support potential recovery actions in relation to cladding remediation costs, working towards effective and efficient resolutions. Advisory Role: Provide construction and building safety legal advice and support to business units, functions and the cladding team, ensuring all activities are legally sound and compliant. Location You can work from any of our TW BU Offices across the UK 3 days a week with 2 days a week remote working. The Group Legal team is based around England and is agnostic as to location provided the in-person commitment 3 days a week is delivered. A full list of locations can be found at
