Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maternity Matron Post within the Family Care Group, working in the acute inpatient areas. There are three posts available; a permanent, full-time post based at the York site, a permanent, full-time post based at the Scarborough site, and a fixed-term post offering the opportunity to work across sites.
This post will have the opportunity to directly influence and improve the care of patients.
The Matron role is to provide professional and clinical leadership for all maternity staff, ensuring the delivery of patient-focused high-quality standards of care.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant must demonstrate effective professional compassionate leadership and be a competent accountable clinical practitioner with excellent clinical and leadership skills.
You will need to be flexible, enthusiastic, and passionate about delivering innovative safe patient-centered care. Proven management and leadership experience within a maternity setting is essential.

Person specification
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of compassionate leadership
* Experience and specialist knowledge of Acute Maternity areas
* Evidence of change management or involvement in quality improvement
* Knowledge of current and emerging NHS strategy and policy
* Post graduate Midwifery experience as a Band 7, with leadership responsibilities
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Registered Midwife – with active NMC registration
* Masters level qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience
* Leadership qualification or relevant leadership experience
Skills and attributes
* Effective communication skills
* Ability to support team members in distressing situations
* Ability to communicate complex information clearly
