The Town Council are looking to progress a substantial project to redevelop the Sports Pavilion and facilities at Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground to provide a community hub for residents. The project is very exciting and at the early stages, therefore an opportunity has arisen to appoint a Project & Community Engagement Officer to work with the Council whilst engaging within the community to develop the hub working alongside and supporting external consultants and contractors. The Town Council will also be restarting the drafting of its Neighbourhood Plan which is an important tool to help shape future development in Corfe Mullen. The role will support a planning consultant and a small group of volunteers forming a steering group to draft the plan through public consultation to then seek approval through a public referendum. We are seeking a person with the necessary skills, qualifications, experience and drive with a sense of humour and ability to support the Town Clerk in driving forward the Council's projects. The successful candidate will preferably have local government experience; however, this is not essential and hold an accredited project management qualification. About Us Corfe Mullen is a large community situated in East Dorset, north of Poole, with a population of approximately 10,250 living across 4392 properties. The village is set in the green belt, encouraging many outdoor activities and enabling excellent recreational facilities for residents and visitors alike. The Town Council is a democratically elected body of 14 Councillors, supported by a team of 4 officers and a grounds team. It has a key role in promoting the town, facilitating town management and providing community leadership. The Town Council is also responsible for the provision and maintenance of 44 acres of recreation ground including various sports pitches and a sports pavilion, 11 acres of open space, working with Dorset Wildlife Trust and several small communal areas, such as three play areas, a MUGA, outdoor gym equipment and a skate park. Corfe Mullen also has two cemeteries, Chapel, and a war memorial along with 96 allotment plots. The Town Council is also the sole trustee and oversees the day-to-day management of Corfe Mullen Village Hall, Corfe Mullen Youth Trust and Corfe Mullen Sports Association. These are valuable services provided to our community.
