Working with the Quality and Controls Manager, the role will focus on supporting the effective delivery of our Operational services within risk appetite, and monitoring effectiveness of the control environment. The Control Manager role is a key role which will support the oversight of the risk profile of some of our back-office functions, ensuring Retail Operations maintain an effective control environment. What you’ll be doing Responsible for contributing to the effective management of the control environment across all areas of the business and ensures that control frameworks are being implemented and managed efficiently. Provide oversight, guidance and reporting on the risk and control profile, ensuring all related risks and issues are identified, assessed, managed and reported. Responsible for supporting the business to monitor and addresses any operational control weaknesses arising within Retail Operations. Providing counsel to Operational stakeholders in relation to the risk profile across the function and its appropriate escalation to the relevant meetings and forums. Support Retail Operations adhere to our risk policies, processes and frameworks. Support the Operation adopt the new risk system, ensuring no gaps arise as a result of the transition. Support the Operation migrate to the new risk system, providing support and guidance as the Operation manage and monitor the risk and control profile and associated reporting capability on the new platform. Providing high quality insights and reporting at all levels Maintaining effective relationships with 1st, 2nd and 3rd Line of Defence teams. We need you to have Financial Services (FS) risk experience or experience in a risk-based role. Good understanding of risk and control frameworks and risk management principles. Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver credible written papers and presentations. Sound decision-making skills with the ability to resolve complex issues. The ability to embrace a high and rapidly changing workload and to sort through competing priorities. It’s a bonus if you have but not essential Operational risk experience. Good knowledge of the regulatory environment facing the FS sector, Virgin Money UK and Customer and Retail Operations. Recognised risk or audit qualification(s) (e.g., Institute of Risk Management).
