Summary of role:
As an SAP you will use your technical expertise, initiative, and problem-solving skills to support our cable jointers and Project Managers with the construction, auditing, and energisation of electricity networks. Your role will be key in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
The role will also provide guidance to the wider business to ensure that relevant legislative and industry standards are achieved throughout all work-related activities and will contribute to the ongoing development of the Company's strategy to ensure continued growth of the infrastructure delivery.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Ability to develop and implement strategic plans in relation to the delivery of new infrastructure networks.
2. Provide technical leadership, knowledge and support of construction activities to ensure compliance with the appropriate legislative, industry and company standards and specifications.
3. Commitment to mentoring and motivating operational team members.
4. Provide operational, strategic, and contractual direction for the whole project delivery team ensuring all works are carried out to required specifications and standards.
5. Ensure realistic programmes are prepared, managed, monitored, reviewed and updated according to the requirements of the project(s).
6. Responsible for the review of network and industry standards updates, and incorporation into the Company's own documentation framework.
7. Implement and maintain quality control processes to guarantee high standards of project delivery.
8. Undertake site and process audits to ensure compliance with company SHEQ and external bodies' standards and procedures.
9. Perform pre-commissioning, testing and switching (where applicable) of 11kV & LV switchgear.
10. Liaise with DNO engineers for final connections, energisation of substations, and IDNO/DNO Low Voltage (LV) networks.
11. Plan and execute DNO LV and High Voltage (HV) 'Self-Connect' activities and support fault location/repair where applicable.
12. Install and test CT Metering in line with industry standards relevant to the Code of Practice.
13. Responsible for assessing the competency of individuals and contractors providing authorisation for the appointment of competent, authorised persons in relation to network adoption via iDNOs.
14. Provide technical support for the validation and authorisation of operatives and contractors.
15. Maintaining company SHEQ standards, interacting with company systems to ensure continued compliance with legislation and industry standards.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
1. Experience of electrical distribution and/or transmission operations as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP).
2. Demonstrable knowledge of electricity distribution and construction legislation e.g ESCQR, Electricity Act, Electricity at Work Regulations, BS7671.
3. Ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation.
4. High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly in written and oral forms.
5. Excellent appreciation of electricity network design, construction, commissioning and operations.
6. HNC, or equivalent, level of qualification, with a good theoretical and working knowledge of 1ph and 3ph electrical systems at both LV and HV.
7. Current or previous DNO/iDNO 11kV AP/SAP Operational Authorisation.
8. A recognised supervisory Health & Safety qualification (e.g SSSTS or IOSH).
Desirable
1. Knowledge of Distribution Safety Rules (DSRs).
2. Demonstrable experience of 33kV/66KV project delivery.
3. Experience of sub-contractor liaison.
4. Previous experience of technical authoring of electricity industry standards, processes and procedures.
5. Experience of representation on industry forums.
