Arriva Treasury Company Limited are hiring a Head of Treasury to join their team. Arriva Treasury Company Limited is a separate, dedicated legal entity that provides dynamic support, advice, and deal execution services to all Arriva group companies. This includes managing external financing and finance documents compliance, capital markets execution, internal funding and full in-house bank services, group liquidity planning and cash management, issuing bank guarantees and parent company guarantees across the group, FX and interest rate risk management, fuel (diesel) hedging including financial derivatives and hedge accounting, and advising project teams how specific commercial projects will be funded, including financial lease arranging. Overall, the full suite of professional Treasury services for the group is delivered through two front office operations, one in the UK and one being set up in the Netherlands. Head of Treasury is a pivotal role within the Arriva Group, supporting the Treasury Director by delivering Treasury services within group policy and agreed strategy, running a treasury operation that consists of separate front-offices and a ‘shared service’ back-office function, with the functional managers reporting directly into the position. This role is based with colleagues from our Sunderland office, a minimum of 2 days per week with the rest focusing on where you can best deliver, whilst still allowing for the required work life balance. The role operates Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with 1 hour lunch per day. Key responsibilities of the role: The Head of Treasury will manage all operational aspects of the Arriva Treasury Department and the completion of a major transformation for the Treasury function as it develops from being a divisional treasury team under the group’s previous owner into a self-standing and fully operating international corporate treasury function, with an expanded team, international front offices, and a new treasury management system (TMS) moving closer to implementation (ION Reval). Lead the operational Treasury team through effective planning, organisation and delivery of a consistently exceptional service to the business. Maintain high-quality processes and reporting, ensure absolute compliance with the law(s), compliance with lenders’ covenant requirements, any shareholder information and governance needs, and group Treasury policies and standards. Continuously develop the professional standards of Treasury team members. Maintain transformation: complete the build of the function and TMS and continue to optimise functional processes to meet the changing needs of the business. Act as a trusted partner of the business and operating units and develop expertise within the team to support this process. Manage the team to operate the key financial drivers that are critical to business success, which are: Cash management Debt management Guarantees and collateral management Risk management External bank management Controls Planning and budgeting Ensure full compliance with Arriva Group policies and processes, external and regulatory controls, and other internal governance needs. What we'd like from you We’re looking for a qualified and extensively experienced candidate who can demonstrate senior level experience within a Corporate Treasury Team of a multinational business. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in finance or accounting, a professional accounting qualification and recognised treasury qualification, with detailed knowledge of IFRS9 derivative and hedge accounting. Candidates must also demonstrate: Capability to identify and deliver significant value to Arriva Group, supporting the groups’ growth. Ability to shape and influence team behaviours, senior management and the business and operating units, increasing awareness of Treasury impact on business activity. Exposure to all regular disciplines including capital markets fundraising and fuel hedging. A good understanding of tax, transfer pricing, and accounting. Capability to become a key senior leader of Arriva, helping drive the business forward through excellent stakeholder management, influence, and leading by example. Focus towards targets, with proven ability to deliver outstanding results. Natural communication skills verbally, written and numerically with excellent people skills and ability to work collaboratively across their team and wider business. Ability to communicate technical topics at a level that individuals outside of a Treasury specialism would understand and act upon. Influential negotiation and project management skills. Ability to confidently present. Excel skills in financial modelling. Detailed knowledge of Refinativ, FXALL, and ION’s Reval TMS.
