Job Description Position: Product Design Engineer/Design Engineer Location: Worcester What to Expect: As part of New Product Development team, you'll collaborate with design engineers, product managers, and production leaders to develop innovative new products. Utilizing a range of manufacturing processes and materials like sheet metal, plastic mouldings, aluminium castings, and extrusions, you will take new product concepts from initial idea through to final testing, validation, and launch, ensuring all milestones and targets are achieved. Your role will be crucial in shaping the future of our client's product offerings. Key Responsibilities: Work with commercial teams to generate new product ideas that meet customer specifications, focusing on innovation. Develop effective design solutions through creative problem-solving. Lead projects when necessary to ensure timely delivery. Complete and review drawings and supporting documentation. Collaborate with purchasing teams and suppliers for accurate part costing. Assist in-house production teams post-launch to resolve any production issues. Partner with marketing to create promotional materials. What You’ll Need: A degree or equivalent qualification in Design or Engineering. Ideally, 5 years of commercial experience. Strong understanding of mechanical/product design principles and development processes. Proficiency in CAD for creating 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings. Skilled in 3D modelling, assemblies, rendering, and PDM software. Experience with Inventor is preferred, but knowledge of other software is also valuable. Broad knowledge of various manufacturing materials and processes, particularly sheet metal fabrication. Experience with plastic mouldings, aluminium castings, and extrusions is beneficial. Familiarity with the lighting industry (or similar) is highly desirable. Proven ability to present ideas and results to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior management.
