Section 2 - Purpose of Job
1. The role is product promotion/development of trade finance products, including the implementation/running of O&D model, supporting marketing activities, origination of new business, execution of transactions in line SMBC's and GTFD's objectives.
2. Working closely with other stakeholders across EMEA, including GTFD sales, credit department, loans admin, CPD, legal, STPD and other marketing departments (CBD1&2, ISD, SPD & TPD etc), OAD, Nikko CM (DCM and swaps), LCM, TD etc in EMEA relating to trade finance products.
3. The role requires all type of trade finance product knowledge including origination & execution skill.
4. The role also requires strong communication skills as there are various interfaces both within the wider SMFG organisation locally, across EMEA and globally as well as externally including client facing dealing including marketing.
5. The role expects the individual will provide product expertise to country and regional sales teams and support implementation of trade finance products to contribute to achievement of revenue and return targets.
6. The role will work with other PDG teams and GTFD Sales Team on trade finance product standardization and delivery models consistent with SMBC's policies and guidelines with coordination and ongoing communication with key stakeholders - internal and external.
Section 3 - Background
The role provides product and deal operational advice/assistance for structuring and execution of trade finance products, primarily on receivable financing products. The role will also be involved in LCs, guarantees and other transactional/trade finance business when needed.
Being part of the PDG, this role also requires close communication/coordination between PDG teams to ensure business/products are executed/maintained as per product governance and strategy.
The role also requires good communication with GTFD Sales and coverage team for product promotion and understanding of trade finance products.

Section 5 - Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1. Implement efficiently EMEA product strategy, based upon knowledge of client needs, the competitive environment, operational & credit risk, technology, compliance, and regulations, under leadership of Head of PDG Commercialisation, Head of PDG and Regional GTFD management.
2. Develop business cases to support third party platforms for trade finance products.
3. Understand and assist in credit modelling to develop appropriate credit modelling for trade finance products (including building LGD, CCF, etc model for submission to CIPD Credit and Planning colleagues internally and, following agreement, presenting to JFSA), product research and development for all trade finance related client needs; collaborate with customers to deliver incremental, breakthrough and transformational innovation particularly around fintech space.
4. Assist the implementation of products and channels end-to-end for EMEA. Work closely with operations, transaction management (SPCU) and product sales teams to set up standard operating procedures (SOPs) including process maps, product library, etc.
5. Ensure that the EMEA product portfolio view has a strong profitability and capital focus, assisting the business in driving appropriate capital allocations for trade finance products.
6. Collaborate with frontline sales and specialist teams for the commercialization of new and existing trade finance products.
7. Assist sales in the optimization of the Trade portfolio through the purchase and sale of trade assets and insurance.
8. Manage results against the team KPI's.
9. Be a strong key stakeholder engagement and teamwork.
10. Support the GTFD Sales Team to deliver and execute transactions.
Section 6 - Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
1. Working knowledge of the products and developments within trade finance products.
2. Passion for client; strong "client first" attitude, commercial drive and "hands on" working style.
3. Passion for innovation; thorough understanding of new technologies, trade-related IT systems and project management.
4. Knowledge of managing product profitability (margins, capital, total cost of ownership). Understanding of the key jurisdictional differences across the key trade markets.
5. Good communication to promote trade finance business internally and externally.
6. Education & Qualifications - no specific requirement.

1. Working as part of a busy team across multiple locations, including outside EU/UK, and with a high workload, often with high customer expectations and tight deadlines.
