Senior Electrical Design Engineers (Building Services)
Vertical Recruitment is working closely with an award-winning global environmental and engineering consultancy. As the business continues to grow and develop, they are looking to strengthen their Building Services team with the appointment of experienced Senior Electrical Engineers in their Manchester office.
Our client delivers projects across multiple niche sectors, including residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. They have an exciting pipeline of work over the next couple of years, including a major student accommodation development in Manchester and several school projects.
What You’ll Be Doing:
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to progress their career as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within an industry-leading team. The consultancy has an excellent reputation, offering a wealth of expertise across all sectors of the built environment.
Duties Include:
* Producing detailed design calculations and sketches in accordance with project requirements.
* Demonstrating strong technical engineering design knowledge.
* Liaising with engineers and technicians regarding design and drawings as part of a dynamic team committed to delivery.
* Working alongside an Electrical Associate to assist with surveys, design, specification, and contract administration.
* Undertaking a mixture of survey work, design, office-based project administration, and site attendances.
* Carrying out detailed Electrical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment projects.
* Assisting senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages.
* Attending design team meetings.
* Inspecting and reporting on electrical building services systems.
* Utilising Building Services software for calculations.
* Ensuring the design and maintenance of building systems comply with legislative and health & safety requirements.
* Producing marked-up drawings for CAD or direct CAD design drawings for issue.
* Selecting and specifying products, equipment, and installation standards for Electrical Services.
* Collaborating with other design team members as part of an overall project team.
Who We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will likely have a degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and experience aligned with the IET or CIBSE requirements for an Incorporated Engineer.
You should have the ability to design principal electrical systems from concept through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A), including:
* Low voltage electrical distribution from incoming supply through to final circuit (BS7671).
* Internal, external, and emergency lighting in line with CIBSE Lighting Guides.
* Small power and fixed power systems.
* Power supplies for mechanical and fixed equipment.
* Fire alarm and detection systems.
* ICT structured cabling.
* Cable containment for the above systems.
* Proficiency in Amtech and experience interpreting drawings in AutoCAD.
* Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance related to the above systems.
* Experience using Microsoft Office and other relevant technical design software.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
