Provides oversight of a group home(s) with adults that have intellectual and developmental disabilities. Promotes a supportive and accepting environment within the home for the residents and their families and regularly monitors each resident in the home to assure residents’ needs are met. Programs provided by the residence must meet licensing and accreditation standards and conform to the agency's values, performance standards, policies and procedures.
The Residence Manager supervises personnel as delineated by the organizational chart and is responsible for providing a positive work atmosphere that reflects the agency values.
Responsibilities:
* Ensures staff are assigned to the appropriate tasks; work is scheduled effectively; and checkpoints and controls are set for monitoring progress.
* Ensures self and staff understand the organization’s vision, values, goals and strategies and their relationship to their daily work.
* Participates in the selection process and recommends candidates for hire.
* Delegates authority and accountability to staff for appropriate responsibilities and decisions that are consistent with the scope of their capabilities, rules and regulations of regulatory authorities (where applicable), training, and policies of the organization.
* Manages employee performance by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance; tracking progress against goals; providing clear, thorough, timely feedback; and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.
* Thoroughly and sensitively provides constructive criticism.
* Develops and oversees implementation of individuals' program plans, including but not limited to: habilitation plans, behavior support plans, individual plans of protection, and individual service plans focused on assisting in improving their quality of life in a way that has meaning for each of them. Supervises and assists direct care residential staff with implementation of specific goals.
* Communicates/collaborates critical individual-specific information with the medical team, Service Coordinators, collateral programs, families, administration and other stakeholders.
* Routinely inspects physical facilities, making recommendations on items needing repair/replacement and makes requests per Agency policy. Ensures facilities and external vendors properly maintain and correct issues in a timely manner. Ensures the physical environment is free from hazards that could result in injury to either staff or individuals.
* Ensures that fire drills and all other safety-related training are conducted per department schedule and documentation related to the drills is submitted to the Assistant Administrator on a timely basis.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or Related Field Preferred
* 2 years' experience supervising a team and appraising performance of at least 4 full-time staff in Human Services environment required
* 2 years' experience in an OPWDD-regulated residential setting preferred. Will consider a combination of education and experience.
