Job summary
Are you interested in a career working in the field of older people with mental health problems? Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust are currently looking for an enthusiastic assistant to join our inpatient services (part time - 30 hours) at Foss Park Hospital in York. The post holder will work within a specialist mental health service for older people with dietitians, speech and language therapists (SLTs) and associate practitioners.
Main duties of the job
A key focus of this role will be to support multidisciplinary working with the wider inpatient teams to help embed SLT and dietetic provision. You would be involved in delivering communication groups, reviewing patient eating and drinking plans and supporting administrative tasks.
The post holder should be motivated and excited by the opportunity to represent the SLT and dietetic service, where our role and input are valued as part of the patient's holistic care planning. The post holder will ideally have previous experience of working with older people. You will also have excellent organisational, verbal, literacy, computing and observational skills.

Working within TEWV provides many opportunities for development, training and support. Within Mental Health Services for Older people there is a supportive leadership structure for Therapies as well as clinical leadership within Dietetics and SLT.
There will be access to one-to-one clinical supervision from a qualified therapist and the opportunity to attend group supervisions and team meetings.

You will access wider support from the Dietetic and SLT network in older peoples services in TEWV, in supporting the delivering of a high-quality needs-led therapy service, utilising your technical and creative skills to support service users to achieve their identified goals.
All team members must be committed to providing the best possible care for the people we work with and their families/carers.
Clinical/Professional supervision is provided by the supervising Dietitian and Speech and Language Therapist .
You should be able to demonstrate experience of working alongside a dietitian /speech therapists or experience of paid or voluntary work with people with mental health conditions or learning disabilities. You should show a keenness to continually develop yourself and others. We will support use of transferrable skills from a range of clinical settings.
There are varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal

1. Relevant NVQ Level 3 in care or equivalent (or willingness to undertake within agreed timescale) or Appropriate AVCE in Health & Social Care
