Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence Maritime sector, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to collaborate closely on MoD support contracts. The Project Management function provides leadership, planning, motivation, and expertise to guide project teams. This role is accountable for ensuring project performance, including meeting deadlines, maintaining quality, controlling costs, and achieving or exceeding gross margin targets. The Project Manager oversees key project elements such as schedules, budgets, resources, and risks.
At this level, professionals apply their technical expertise and experience to make independent decisions that support project success. They are often seen as key points of reference for more complex issues and may serve as project leads or mentors for junior staff, operating with minimal supervision.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of assigned programs/projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. They will also contribute to the development of best practices, offering recommendations for improving existing processes and identifying potential opportunities for efficiency gains.

Key Responsibilities:
* Assume full responsibility for managing and delivering assigned projects, ensuring compliance with processes, procedures, and standards.
* Understand project and contractual requirements in depth.
* Lead bid management, from concept to contract award, preparing proposals and cost estimates within set timelines.
* Define, execute, and monitor project plans, ensuring milestones, work packages, and budgets align with contractual and delivery requirements.
* Develop and maintain project plans and Statements of Work (SOWs) by collaborating with specialist teams across the organisation.
* Manage risks, issues, and opportunities through accurate and up-to-date logs throughout the project lifecycle.
* Effectively manage stakeholders, particularly external customers, and build strong customer relationships by providing clear, consistent communication and ensuring customer satisfaction.
* Identify follow-on business opportunities in collaboration with the business development team.
* Develop performance dashboards to track project progress, identify root causes of issues, and drive improvements across the project lifecycle.
* Regularly report on project status and performance in line with management reporting cycles, maintaining high levels of data accuracy across project plans, risk registers, and financial systems.
* Lead and participate in project meetings, reviews, and stakeholder communications, ensuring clarity and precision in all communications.
* Adhere to the company’s Health & Safety policies and standards.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
* Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field.
* Experience in a Project Management role.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven track record of achieving business goals and objectives.
* Ability to effectively manage budgets and schedules.
* Experience in profit and loss management.
* Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
