Quality Assurance Manager
Location: Coventry
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000
Working Arrangement: 2 x days working from home.
Additional Requirement: Must be a driver - to travel to local sites.
Purpose of the Role:
To provide agile and flexible technical support across the breadth of the business, working closely with the technical team on product development and the commercial team on the management of material supply, sourcing, and suppliers to ensure compliance with legal, quality, safety, environmental, and ethical requirements standards.
The Technical Manager will work closely with operations to ensure appropriate QC setup and processes within factories, ensuring the best quality product is shipped to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Providing agile and flexible technical support to the technical, commercial, and operations teams in accordance with prioritized business needs.
2. Responsible for product evaluation and approval working with the technical team, including risk assessment and benchmarking processes, to ensure that product development is compliant.
3. Ensuring all non-compliance issues are effectively dealt with and appropriate remedial action taken through direct contact with appropriate supplier contacts prior to product approval.
4. Working with Operations to ensure QC setup in each factory is fit for purpose, measuring and monitoring manufactured product quality standards to ensure customer service levels and satisfaction are met.
5. Carrying out supplier evaluation and approvals as appropriate, including associated manufacturing sites, and ensuring all non-compliance issues are effectively dealt with and appropriate remedial action taken.
6. Investigating and reporting on technical queries and quality concerns in relation to product returns, critical product failures, and customer complaints, identifying remedial actions, product changes, and associated cost implications.
7. Identifying opportunities for profit improvement through close collaboration with the Technical, Commercial, and Operations teams, proactively using knowledge of product specifications and supplier capabilities.
8. Ensuring accuracy of product certification and specification data for products and those provided by suppliers and maintaining technical files to the required level of detail and content.
Person Specification:
1. In-depth knowledge of QA and responsible sourcing practices and methodology.
2. At least 5 years related experience - some within manufacturing.
3. A proven track record in delivering improvements in Quality Assurance and Responsible Sourcing in a commercial environment.
4. Performance reporting, analytics, processes development.
5. Practical experience of Supplier, Factory, CSR (Ethical) audits.
6. Delivery of commercial benefit and Customer proposition development.
7. Working knowledge of British & European product safety, legal & technical standards and associated compliance certification/conformance.
8. Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
9. Strong stakeholder management abilities.
10. Excellent internal & external communication skills with the ability to promote change.
11. Commercial thinking.
