Wellcome Genome Campus Ltd (“WGCL”) is seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Advisor to play a key role on its renowned scientific research campus.
The Wellcome Genome Campus is a leading genomic research campus and home to some of the world's foremost institutes and organisations in genomics and computational biology, including the Wellcome Sanger Institute (“Sanger”) and the European Bioinformatics Institute. Sanger is Wellcome’s largest charitable initiative, having founded and funded the Campus and Sanger since 1992. Today, over 2,500 people work at the Campus that comprises c.1 million square feet of space set within a beautiful 135-acre estate in Hinxton, 9 miles south of Cambridge.
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Risk, the Health and Safety Advisor will act as the primary operational liaison between WGCL and our campus occupiers on health and safety matters. They will be responsible for managing and monitoring statutory compliance requirements and assurances relating to contractor inductions, delivering the campus fire risk assessment plan and will take ownership of the permit to work processes including the delivery of our new e-permit system.
The successful candidate will be a Health & Safety professional with experience of working in a comparable large scale, commercial, campus environment. You will be process and data driven with excellent interpersonal skills and possess the professional credibility to interact with senior management and stakeholders across the campus.
