Senior Database Administrator Northamptonshire - Northampton (8 miles), Towcester (9 miles), and Milton Keynes (11 miles) £35-45k Full-time, permanent, on-site. About the Role My client is seeking a database administrator to maintain and performance tune databases that run internally and on remote customer systems. This role will involve occasional foreign travel to customer sites, and be based in our officesin the UK, near Northampton. The role includes building and maintaining infrastructure on customer platforms and providesupport to system administrators of our systems. This includes Microsoft MSSQL and MySQL DBMS. All systems need to run 24/7 and will adopt any forms of high availability and replication (potentially both) to aid that goal. Monitoring backups is as equally important to the recovery of running systems. There is ample opportunity to grow and progress through the business, learning new skillsand diversifying in role. The role will suit someone with a broad knowledge of databases and other aspects of IT, including hardware, software and OS. The ideal candidate will be organised and pragmatic, as the role is sometimes customer facing,the candidate should have clear communication skills and be presentable. The role is 100% office based and due to location would be preferable for the candidate to hold a full driving license. Essential Skills • Strong Microsoft SQL Server experience (Availability Groups and Replication) • Strong MySQL Experience (Galera Clusters) • Database design and performance tuning. Desirable Skills • Neo4J Graph Database • Cloud Technologies with an emphasis on security and stability • Firewall, Networking and VPN configuration and maintenance • vCenter, vSphere • Conversational language skills Spanish/French/Portuguese • Operating systems including Linux, Ubuntu • Active Directory administration • IP cameras, base stations, VOIP phones • Internet of Things protocols, (MQTT and/or LoRaWAN) • Hardware (servers, desktops, laptops, mobile phones) • Delivering virtual and face to face training to users of varying technical abilities Should be confident with documenting methods for undertaking tasks. Role is permanent, expected salary £35-45k Additional Information This is a permanent, full-time, office based role in the UK, near Northampton. The candidate is required to have their own transport due to the location. The successful applicant will be expected to attend the office daily as this is NOT a remote role.
