This post offers exciting opportunities within the Tees Adult Learning Disability Service. We are seeking to appoint a psychology graduate with previous experience as an assistant psychologist to work into our inpatient unit at Bankfields Court.
Bankfields Court is aninpatient facility which provides an assessment and treatment servicefor adults with learning disabilities from the Teesside area, who also haveassociated mental health problems, behaviour that challenges or severe epilepsy.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will promote the recovery and wellbeing of our service users within a trauma informed framework, during their journey towards discharge. Their core role will involve contributing to psychological assessment and formulation, supporting the team in using psychological and behavioural interventions (. PBS), providing low intensity interventions, promoting staff-wellbeing,involvement in facilitating staff training (. in trauma informed care and staff resilience) and carrying out clinical evaluation and audit.
The successful applicant will have a first class or upper second-class degree in psychology, and previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist. Some previous experience of working in learning disability services would be beneficial. In addition, they will beenthusiastic, motivated, and passionate about improving the emotional wellbeing and quality of life of people with a learning disability and have an ability to be flexible and adaptive when responding to demands of the service. They will be working as part of a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team under direct supervision from an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Degree in psychology
2. Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
Desirable
3. Further post graduatetraining in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice, youth work, work with offenders and/or research design and analysis
Experience

4. Experience working as a psychology assistant (or equivalent)
5. Experience working with people with mental ill health or learning disabilities (paid or voluntary).
6. Knowledge of evidence-based practice
7. Experience of psychometric test administration and interpretation.

8. Experience working in ALD services

9. Ability to work collaboratively with members of the MDT to provide an effective service.
10. Ability to communicate sensitive information to clients, carers and colleagues.
11. An understanding of psychology applied to healthcare.
