Our finance team plays an important role in delivering the high-quality service we expect, ensuring that we continue to pay our fostering families, staff, and maintain good working relationships with our Local Authority partners.
We are recruiting for a Finance Director, a key position within our growing therapeutic fostering service. The role will oversee financial operations, financial control, budgeting, statutory compliance, and strategic financial planning. This role requires strong leadership and analytical skills, coupled with a clear understanding of how to operate a high-quality finance function. Our Finance Director will work closely with the CEO, senior management, and fostering families to drive forward our vision and values, so relationship building will be a crucial skill.
Key Responsibilities:
* Financial Operations:
o Oversee day-to-day financial operations, supported by the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Assistant.
o Line management of Finance Manager.
o Management and monitoring of cashflows to ensure financial stability.
o Oversee the timely and efficient operation of core finance processes (invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and family payments).
o Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
* Financial Control:
o Implement and maintain financial checks and balances.
o Develop internal control policies and procedures to ensure financial integrity.
* Budgeting and KPIs:
o Lead the budgeting process and monitor performance against budgets.
o Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess financial performance.
o Support registered managers in understanding their budgets and financial performance.
o Ensure cost control and management across the organisation.
* Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with all relevant audit, accounting, and tax regulations.
o Handle investor communication and reporting to maintain transparency and trust.
* Debt Financing:
o Manage debt financing activities, including negotiating terms and managing relationships with lenders.
* Analysis:
o Conduct financial analysis for new projects, fee increases, and "what if" scenarios to support decision-making.
* Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A):
o Oversee financial aspects of M&A activities and expansion into new geographies.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Recognised accountancy qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
* Proven experience as a Finance Director or similar role, ideally in a PE backed company.
* Strong knowledge of corporate finance, financial planning, and financial analysis.
* Financial modelling.
* M&A experience would be beneficial.
* Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
* Thorough understanding of IT systems related to finance.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
