Job Summary The Repairs Technician will work as a part of a small team, within a busy operations environment, to perform a variety of repair works to damaged or improvable equipment. The type of items the technician is expected to repair are generally IT & Networking equipment, both enterprise and end user types, often having been bought for stock or being returned from a customer; But can vary including IT based equipment requested from external clients to tools in disrepair or even tools from other departments within the business. This is a very hands-on role which also requires administration work, updating and working from a helpdesk tool for administration as well as email and telephone communication. Responsibilities Working with the in-house ticketing system, ensuring that requests are addressed in an organized and efficient manner, and the works required are performed within deadlines Carrying out repairs of bought in stock that is damaged or faulty, liaising with Goods-In and Purchasing departments Carrying out repairs of returned stock from customers, liaising with RMA and Sales departments Carrying out repair works of non-stock items for external clients, liaising with sales and logistics departments Assessing & Fault finding on suspected faulty or damaged equipment and parts, from a variety of sources Using cost-benefit analysis to determine whether a component requires repair, replacement or rejection Conducting p hysical repair works ranging from modular replacement to component level soldering Handling data holding equipment & sensitive information in accordance with both GDPR & company standards Recording all repair work carried out within relevant administration systems Conducting of, or organising of where required, the technical testing of repaired equipment with other operational departments; Ensuring the traceability of parts and communication between departments is maintained Designing components to 3D Print using CAD software and 3D scanning hardware. 3D printing of components using company printing equipment from an internally held library of parts & Performing quality checks on 3D printed parts Performing maintenance on the 3D printing equipment, and keeping the relevant records Assisting in maintaining general cleanliness and tidying in the department, as well as within communal operating areas. Providing repairs support and technical advice to operations and the wider business Providing support to & assisting with workload of Paint Technician & Refurbishments Technician role. Any other suitable warehouse duties that may be required by the Operations Manager As the company culture promotes helping others, additional ad hoc tasks not listed above may be assigned to the job holder Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained, and issues reported, Working in accordance with any safe systems of work or manufacturer’s guidelines where appropriate Ensure COSHH standards are met when using and/or storing substances within these responsibilities. The job holder is expected to understand and work in accordance with the requirements in the Techbuyer Quality Management System Required Skills or Training Good knowledge of IT component parts, or demonstrable desire to learn Basic knowledge of different types of electronic components & their functions Experience with manual soldering; Visual inspection equipment & A variety of hand tools Computer literate / Experience with: Formal E-Mails; Basic use of spreadsheets or databases; Ideally with experience of ticketing systems.
