This is an exciting chance to play a pivotal role in leading the development and delivery of a stimulating Geography curriculum, fostering a lifelong love of learning about the world in students of all abilities across Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11). About the Role: Provide strategic leadership for the Geography department, ensuring the curriculum aligns with the school's vision, national guidelines, and the latest advancements in geographical understanding. Oversee the planning, development, and delivery of engaging and effective Geography lessons across Key Stage 3 and potentially Key Stage 4. Lead a team of dedicated Geography teachers, providing mentoring, guidance, and support for their professional development. Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, implementing strategies to ensure high standards of achievement in Geography. Identify and address any gaps in student knowledge and understanding, ensuring all students reach their full potential. Develop and maintain a well-resourced Geography department, fostering a stimulating and engaging learning environment. Contribute to the wider school curriculum by fostering cross-curricular links with other subjects. Play a key role in the school's enrichment programme, potentially developing and leading Geography-related clubs or trips. Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate: A qualified Geography teacher with a proven track record of success in leadership and curriculum development. Extensive experience in teaching Geography across Key Stage 3 and potentially Key Stage 4. Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of learning about the world in students. Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and empower a team of teachers. Exceptional pedagogical skills and the ability to develop and deliver innovative and effective Geography lessons. A commitment to high standards and the ability to create a positive and productive learning environment. Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
