Purpose of the role Throughout the years Janssen has remained committed to advancing research and bringing innovative therapies in fields where unmet needs are prolific. As part of this dedication, we continue to advance a rich pipeline across various disease areas, strongly weighted into precision medicine which informed our key strategic decision to invest in building dedicated diagnostics capabilities. As Precision Medicine grows in the UK, our organisation has embedded capabilities and strategy that is now being deployed in readiness for upcoming brand launches. As a broader organisation the operating model has evolved to now embed expertise and capabilities into the respective brand CVTs, with the brand CVTs also taking ownership and accountability for driving Precision Medicine go-to-market strategies and initiatives, moving away from the previous centralised ESO Precision Medicine IBVT model in EMEA. The imminent launch of new brands in Bladder and Lung Cancer represents a significant landmark for the UK OpCo, as these medications necessitate the implementation of companion diagnostics to identify eligible patients. To facilitate the uptake of these J&J medicines, it is crucial to ensure national coverage across a wide customer base of new collaborators, as stated in a new national go-to-market approach. This model requires the integration of precision medicine activities within the field division, which will fall under the responsibilities of the Strategic Access Managers and the Service & Solutions team, fundamentally. The Therapy Specialists will play a key role in referring HCPs to the above, striving to increase testing awareness and adoption. The MSLs will start visiting chief pathologists and clinical scientists in the main labs, both to gather insights and to reactively share non-promotional materials to support a wider uptake of genetic testing. Because of the above, it has been agreed to eliminate the field-based Precision Medicine Lead role and replace with new roles that are required to drive precision medicine within the new go-to-market model. The new “UK Precision Medicine Liaison” position is a role with broad responsibility, to further develop the UK Diagnostic materials and strategy, building on existing initiatives and driving execution across multiple CVTs and field-division roles, using the cross-functional resources of each brand and further crafting precision medicine strategy to reflect UK needs and requirements.
