Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic registered children’s nurse for 30 hours/0.80 wte with excellent communication skills and good organisational skills to join our Community Paediatric Service, part of Manchester Children’s Community Health Services within Manchester Local Care Organisation (MLCO).
Main Duties of the Job
This role will involve working across two services: firstly, you will work one day per week within Community Paediatrics in community settings, and secondly, in your role as specialist nurse for autism you will support the multi-disciplinary Social Communication Pathway (SCP). As part of this innovative service, you will work in conjunction with the paediatricians for Central and North Manchester to support autism assessments and provide post-diagnostic support to children and families, as well as contributing to multi-agency liaison with other members of the Social Communication Pathway.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Children)/RSCN
* Teaching and assessing certificate/mentorship
* Degree/speciality practitioner CCN
* NMC registered Nurse. Independent/Supplementary Prescriber
* Clinical assessment modules
* Appropriate communication skills training
Knowledge
* Up to date knowledge and understanding of current evidence-based practice in children’s community nursing
* Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies, procedures and practice
* Understanding of the need for appropriate information sharing and integrated working to support positive health outcomes
* Knowledge and understanding of disability and long-term complex conditions
* Demonstrate an understanding and application of family centred care and improving self-management
* Knowledge and awareness of the guidance around Autism assessment and post-diagnostic care and support
* Awareness of the impact of the diagnosis of autism on a child and their family and how to support them
* Knowledge about taking a developmental history
* Knowledge of medical conditions associated with autism
Training and Experience
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Experience of research and/or audit.
* Experience in working with children with autism, developmental delay or behavioural difficulties
