An exciting opportunity has arisen within UHDB for a Director of Culture. The Director of Culture is one of the most senior leadership roles below board level with the remit of developing a compassionate and inclusive culture across UHDB, ensuring all our people and patients experience the very best of the NHS.
The post holder will continue to lead positive change and transformation across our sites. They will design and deliver organisational development and change management strategies, processes and initiatives to foster a high-performance culture, where continuous learning, improvement and equality and diversity is embedded throughout. They will lead the delivery of our approach to embedding a compassionate and inclusive leadership throughout the trust.
In the remit, but not limited to is the delivery of the Trust People Experience Strategy and delivery plans and associated performance metrics, as well as performance against regional and national strategies and plans.
Main duties of the job To work with the Chief People Officer and Deputy Chief People Officer to bring together, connect, and align all trust wide change programmes into a coherent strategic framework to build and embed a compassionate and inclusive leadership development and communications programme.
To work with the Deputy Chief People Officer to build an employment offer that enables UHDB to be a great place to work, supported by effective Organisational Development interventions.
To develop and oversee the trusts approach to staff engagement and involvement.
To lead the organisation-wide planning of the annual NHS staff survey and quarterly Staff Friends and Family Tests/Pulse checks to gain maximum response rates from staff. Analyse results of the surveys identifying themes and action plans. Work with the Director of People Services and HR Business Partners to interpret local results and develop local action plans.
Embed a compassionate and inclusive leadership approach throughout UHDB. Deliver a leadership development offer that ensures all leaders in UHDB are equipped and able to be their very best.
Ensure succession planning and talent management processes create a pipeline of excellent leaders from all health disciplines by helping employees to achieve their potential via focused support and development.
Promote employee belonging, decision making, accountability and voice.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will act with a system mindset, working collaboratively with colleagues to develop and deliver across two Integrated Care Systems (ICS’s) and as and when required regionally and nationally.
They will provide leadership and support to the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Education, Learning and Development and Organisational Development Teams.
Ensure staff have access to a high-quality education, learning and development provision and to build on the opportunities available as University Teaching Trust.
Advocate for diversity and drive the creation of an inclusive culture through planned programmes of work and interventions, delivery of the post holder’s portfolio and role modelling.
To take a consultancy and project management approach with the Chief People Officer, Deputy Chief People Officer and Executive Directors to design, develop, implement and evaluate interventions at individual, team and organisational level.
* Support the delivery of the Trust People Experience strategy that brings together all culture change programmes into a coherent and focused approach to ensure UHDB is the best place for care and to work.
* To develop and embed a UHDB strategic framework that creates a golden thread throughout the trust.
* To embed a compassionate and inclusive leadership approach throughout UHDB, including a leadership development offer that ensures all our leaders have the right skills and the behaviours to equip them to fulfil their role.
* Enable UHDB to become a diverse and inclusive place to work, where all staff feel they can be themselves and belong.
* Ensure staff have access to a high-quality education, learning and development provision and to build on the opportunities available as a University Teaching Trust.
* To create a safe physical and psychological place to work.
* To champion UHDB to be a great place to work and fully embed the NHS People Promise.
* Utilise a range of diagnostics tools to enable teams to develop a deeper understanding of their challenges, situation and circumstances.
* Provide analysis, interpretation, observations, recommendations, feedback and action planning for a wide range of interventions e.g. staff feedback, team development.
