Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to take on a developing role within an established Safeguarding service. The service covers a large Trust which presents both challenges and opportunities within the safeguarding arena.
We are seeking individuals who will work as part of the MFT Safeguarding Team, which consists of Named Nurses (children’s community, acute, adult and midwifery services; Specialist Nurses Safeguarding; Specialist Nurses for Looked After Children, mental Health Learning Disability and Autism nurses. This opportunity is based within the Children’s Acute parts of the service, though there is an acknowledgement that you will be able to work across both the community and acute safeguarding bases.
You will provide child protection and safeguarding training, leadership, advice, supervision and expertise to health practitioners within the Trust and will promote the embedding of the principles of safeguarding into everyday professional practice.
You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work well within a team environment as well as autonomously as the role requires. You should be an autonomous worker who can lead on various work projects whilst being a team player and working collaboratively with other members of the team, the wider Trust and external agency partners.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to provide safeguarding knowledge and expertise in demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues relating to identification, assessment, management and review of safeguarding vulnerable children and families.
S/He will monitor and improve standards of care through safeguarding leadership, supervision, audit, evidence-based practice, training and provision of safeguarding advice and support.

Person specification
* Registered Children's Nurse/Community Public Health Practitioner
* Evidence of ongoing development and training undertaken in respect of safeguarding to minimum level 3
* Knowledge of national and local Safeguarding policy and guidelines and recommendations
* Knowledge of legislation relating to safeguarding
* Experience of safeguarding supervision
* Experience delivering training
* Experience of policy development and implementation
* Awareness of issues affecting diverse populations
* Experience of multi-agency child protection work
* Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to analyse, critically evaluate information in a concise and accurate manner
