Keeping in Touch Youth and Community Worker
Contract Type: Fixed Term post until 31/03/2028 due to grant funding
Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week
Location of post: Tir Morfa, Marine drive, Sandfields, Port Talbot SA12 7NN
We are currently looking for a Keeping in Touch Youth and Community Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Electively Home Educated and Not in Employment, Education or Training young people within Neath Port Talbot.
The main duties of the post:
1. Provide support for young people aged 15-18 to enter into work experience, education, training and/or employment.
2. Deliver a variety of projects, courses and employability skills for identified young people.
3. Utilize a variety of youth work interventions and signpost to specialist agencies and organizations.
Applicants should be able to develop and maintain key relationships with other agencies; possess excellent communication and organizational skills; be proactive and able to work under their own initiative as well as part of a team.
You will have experience in/of:
1. Working with and supporting young people who are NEET/ at risk of becoming NEET.
2. Knowledge of Youth Work practice and methods and ability to apply these to work with young people.
3. Facilitating young people’s learning, and their personal and social development.
4. Devising and delivering sessions to young people.
5. Working independently with young people and managing a caseload.
Ideally you will have:
1. A minimum of 4 GCE/GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent, which should include English Language.
2. Qualification in Youth and Community Work or equivalent.
The post requires registration with the Education Workforce Council prior to employment.
