HR Business Partner (Permanent) The HR Business Partners play a pivotal role influencing change, encouraging good HR practices and driving a progressive company culture. We have exciting HR objectives to achieve in 2025 and beyond and as part of our team, you’ll play an essential part in helping us deliver these. We have over 2,500 colleagues and our dedicated HR Team provides advice, support and guidance on the full employee lifecycle. You will join an excellent team – our HR colleagues are based on-site in our depots 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) and you will also be required to travel to our depots regularly. Our buses operate out of seven depots at Central, Marine, Longstone, Musselburgh, Livingston and Dunbar, and we also have a maintenance workshop at Seafield. You will forge strong partnerships with our depot management teams, our engineering managers, our drivers and our colleagues who support the depot. Role Responsibilities: • Lead employee relations, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies. • Provide expert guidance and align HR strategies with business goals, acting as a trusted partner. • Partner with managers to design and implement HR strategies for learning and development, health and wellbeing, reward and recognition, talent management, employee engagement and retention. • Drive initiatives and projects which foster a strong and inclusive workplace culture. • Lead organisational change, organisational design and succession planning initiatives. • Support leadership in fostering a high-performance work environment through providing training and coaching to colleagues. • Develop and continuously improve HR processes to enhance efficiency, including supporting with the effective implementation of an HR system. • Lead or support wider HR projects and initiatives that will drive the HR Business Plan. Ideal Candidate Professional Experience: Essential: • Demonstrable HR Business Partner or HR Generalist experience, able to establish strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. • Demonstrable Employee Relations experience, managing complex and sensitive cases. • Demonstrable experience drafting and updating appropriate policies and procedures. • Demonstrable experience developing, designing and delivering training to managers and employees. • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing HR initiatives and projects through to embedding successfully. • Proven experience in change management, organisational design and transformation. Desirable: • Experience of implementing an HR system. • Transport industry experience. Key Competencies: Essential: • Excellent interpersonal skills to act as a trusted advisor and take responsibility for core HR processes, building rapport and relationships with internal stakeholders, and exploring HR matters thoroughly. • Resilience with strong influencing and communication skills to challenge, engage and inspire. • Confident and credible, working with stakeholders at all levels. • CIPD qualified (minimum level 3) backed up by a wealth of generalist HR experience. • You will be comfortable working from different depots and travelling to different sites on a regular basis. Desirable: • You’ll ideally have experience in a fast paced operational and unionised environment. • A valid driving licence.
