We require a motivated and dedicated nurse to work within the Lung Oncology team as a clinical nurse specialist at Harrogate District Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team who are focused on delivering the best possible personalised care to patients with a range of malignant lung conditions.
We have a passionate multidisciplinary team who work closely with the tertiary centre. The Nursing service undertakes nurse-led clinics and is committed to advancing their clinical skills and decision-making capabilities. Opportunities for further education and training will be offered and encouraged.
Our service supports patients diagnosed with or suspected of having lung cancer. We provide comprehensive nursing support and expert advice to patients, families, and carers throughout their pathway from diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and end-of-life care in collaboration with specialist teams and services including community/specialist palliative care services as required.

Main duties of the job
1. To act as the Key Worker for a caseload of patients as agreed with the Lung CNS.
2. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate personalised programmes of care for patients and families where lung cancer is suspected or confirmed and make appropriate onward referrals.
3. To provide appropriate support, information, education, advice, and counselling regarding all aspects of their illness and possible investigation/treatment modalities.
4. To act as the patient's advocate, particularly when informed discussion may lead to choices being made concerning investigation/treatment options. Assist in the process of attaining informed consent.

Person specification
ESSENTIAL AND DESIRABLE
* Registered Nurse - 1st level with current NMC Registration.
* First level degree in related subject or undertaking a degree pathway.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Advanced Communications Skills Training or prepared to work towards.
* Relevant post-registration experience at band 5 or above in the specialty.
* Experience of multi-professional working.
* Evidence of good communication skills.
* Ability to support and influence change.
* Evidence of Masters level learning or prepared to work towards.
* Non-medical prescriber.
* Leadership and management experience.
* Experience of patient involvement/feedback initiatives.
