Specialist Technician – Building Services (Healthcare)We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Technician to join our Estates Service team, providing technical support for the routine and non-routine fault diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and operation of complex building services systems across healthcare sitesOrmskirk/Southport (with flexibility to work across Trust sites) Key Responsibilities: Technical Support: Install, repair, service, and calibrate mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment in accordance with relevant standards and legislation. Preventative Maintenance: Actively participate in planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schemes, ensuring optimal performance of plant and equipment. Fault Diagnosis: Conduct diagnostic procedures using electronic instruments on-site and in the workshop. Heavy Equipment Handling: Manage manual handling of heavy objects (up to 20kg) to ensure equipment is operational. Patient Equipment Maintenance: Clean, decontaminate, diagnose faults, and repair patient-related specialized equipment. On-Call Support: Participate in the emergency On-Call system and respond to out-of-hours issues across multiple Trust sites.Clinical & Professional Responsibilities: Liaise with Trust management, nursing staff, and external contractors to ensure effective operations and troubleshooting. Adhere to all Trust policies, including Health & Safety and Risk Management, ensuring compliance in all tasks. Conduct risk assessments and provide specialist knowledge to other estates staff. Administrative & Training Responsibilities: Produce reports on equipment testing and assist site management with maintenance documentation. Undertake mandatory training and keep up-to-date with new technologies and techniques. Cascade training to other staff as necessary and support knowledge sharing. Essential Criteria: Qualifications: Recognized Mechanical/Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent experience. Experience: Relevant experience in the maintenance and repair of building services, mechanical, and electrical equipment. Physical Requirements: Physically fit to carry out manual handling tasks and work at heights (training provided). Skills: Strong fault diagnosis and repair skills; excellent problem-solving abilities
