Trust Education in Horbury, Wakefield is looking for an Early Years Special Needs support assistant We are working with a small primary school in Featherstone, Wakefield, who are on the lookout for an individual to provide 1:1 support to a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a full-time basis starting as soon as possible.
About the Role:
This position involves working closely with a child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) who requires additional support to access the curriculum effectively. You will play a key role in ensuring that the child feels safe, engaged, and motivated in their learning environment while also encouraging their social and emotional development through learning via play.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Providing 1:1 support, ensuring the child's needs are met in line with their individual learning plan.
· Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other support staff to help the child reach their full potential.
· Supporting the child's communication and helping them develop confidence and independence in the classroom.
· Using your creativity and initiative to adapt learning activities, making them engaging and accessible for the child.
· Encouraging positive behaviour, building resilience and self-esteem through a nurturing approach.
· Assisting with daily school routines, including personal care where necessary, to ensure the child's well-being throughout the school day.
· Contributing to the wider EYFS classroom environment, helping to create a great space for all children to learn.
What We're Looking For:
· Experience working within EYFS, with a solid understanding of early childhood development.
· Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly those with speech and language difficulties, autism, or other additional needs (desirable but not essential).
· A resilient attitude, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
· A creative approach using different methods to support their individual needs.
· The ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and parents
