Our client, a large government customer, are seeking a Requirements Manager to join their team. The role is hybrid with remote working and site-based work in Appledore, Devon. You will be working on site in Appledore an average of once every fortnight for 2 days (one night in hotel). There may be some work in Bristol and occasional travel to Lithuania. The role requires SC Clearance and candidates must be sole UK nationals.
Initial requirements are scheduled to run until 31/03/2025 and offer a rate up to £550/day.
IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. Our client has indicated that they intend to operate the engagement as Inside IR35. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement. The rates above represent rate payable to the umbrella co.

Brief Team Description
Two HMS vessels were sold to an overseas Navy in 2008. The vessels underwent extensive refits before being transferred and HMS Quorn has now been additionally sold. The expectation is that, barring obsolescence issues, it is to be fitted to the same standard and as far as practicable, preserving the same equipment and/or vendors as previously to maximise commonality of training and equipment.
There is a requirement for a Requirements Manager (RM) to support the end of the regeneration phase and subsequent trials phase. The duration of this requirement is estimated to be 3 months, though please note this may be extended if additional delays to the programme occur.
Main Responsibilities
* Regeneration Phase and Trials Phase.
* Answer any technical Clarification Questions (TQs) asked by H&W (Harland & Wolfe – industry partner) /new owners.
* Support the delivery of the technical input to all required project documentation i.e. ITEAP, risk register, issues register etc.
* Act as the focal point for all technical queries (TQs) asked by the LTU or other members of the project team.
* Ensure that the vessel regeneration is progressing in accordance with the SRD and Technical SOW and H&W/new owners document set presented to LTU is as complete as possible.
* Manage any technical changes to the URD, SRD and SOW approved by LTU.
* Support the development of the document set to allow the deployment of the vessel. Inclusive of but not limited to the Certificate of Design and safety case processes.
* Support H&W/new owners with the delivery of an acceptance plan (ITEAP) ensuring compliance against the contract, through advice and recommendations based on sound engineering principles.
* Make technical recommendations to LTU regarding milestone(s) achievements against the contracted SOW and ITEAP.
* Work with the LTU M55 crew to ensure that all technical elements are reported in a timely way to the Project Manager, inclusive of but not limited to the risk and issues register.
Hard Deliverables
The RM will deliver during the regeneration phase:
* Inputs to any required quarterly report, articulating technical performance against the contract.
* Inputs to technical issues impacting the delivery against the timeline.
* Inputs to reports on the final parts of the proposed design, together with an assessment of achievement of the Certificate of Conformality against the agreed contract. Inclusive of technical assessment to accept or otherwise.
* Recommendations to LTU on the H&W/new owners provided validated safety case.
* In conjunction with industry and the LTU Team, support the delivery of an operational vessel to LTU.
* Manage and Oversee capability acceptance (ITEAP), including the development of the Test Forms for acceptance activities (HATs/SATs).
* A weekly diary of their activity presented to the PM (DESA).
Essential Skills and Experience
* Senior Marine Engineer/Naval Architect (CEng with a minimum of 5 years’ experience at this level) with extensive experience of ship build/ship refits.
* Requirements management experience (URD/SRD/SOTR/SOW derivation).
* Management of IVV activities.
* Full driving licence as the role will spend regular time in Appledore shipyard with the client and the balance in Bristol or at the parent company/working remotely.
* Full passport; the job may involve limited travel to LTU.
* The individual will be security cleared – minimum base line security clearance.
* NATO documentation.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Experience of GRP construction.
* Familiarity with the Hunt Class or other MCMV.
* Experience in the regeneration of MCMVs
Assumptions and Timescales
* The RM’s work during this phase is expected to take place at Appledore, north Devon (the shipyard where work is being undertaken) and remotely; limited travel to LTU may be required.
Candidate Eligibility
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas cannot be accepted.
