The Warehouse and Purchasing Assistant ensures efficient and cost-effective purchasing and inventory management at our Hindlow plant. This role emphasises ownership of the warehouse, continuous improvement, and systems-based methods. This role combines an operational element with a satellite buyer aspect which comprises of supplier and cost management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.) Site Health & Safety (H&S): Maintain Site H&S systems for purchasing and storage operations. Ensure all required personal protective equipment is available in stores. Manage compliance in areas such as racking and COSHH. Operations: Support maintenance/shutdown planning to accommodate maintenance activities. Review job orders to determine critical/maintenance spares required. Assist in planning for all activities during planned and unplanned outages to ensure equipment availability. Issue equipment to employees and contractors. Manage consumables on site (including gases, oils, lubricants, etc.). Load and unload vehicles with outgoing/incoming goods, including package management. Sustain and improve the warehouse. Purchasing: Continuously update master data in SAP. Order and manage critical spares on site. Obtain quotes and purchase materials in accordance with the purchasing policy and authorization rules, ensuring alternative quotes are obtained and negotiated with suppliers. Re-order stocked items. Register goods receipt in SAP, including creating new part numbers. Attend meetings with suppliers. Check and code invoices. Handle deviations related to orders, receipts, invoices, and complaints. We are seeking candidates who are proficient in IT, with experience in SAP or similar computer systems. A good standard of Maths and English is also required.
