Job summary Community Children's Nurse with a Specialist Interest in Epilepsy. Band 6 - 30 Hours Per Week. Our specialist children's epilepsy service is part of the wider children and young people's community nursing service. You will join a team who are passionate about delivering excellent clinical nursing care and support to our patients with epilepsy. You will be supported by our Epilepsy Clinical Nurse Specialist. We are looking for a compassionate and committed colleague with a passion for nursing children and young people with epilepsy. Main duties of the job Following a period of induction, you will work autonomously managing a caseload of children and young people with epilepsy, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their nursing care. Your activities will be varied, including, but not limited to supporting clinics, delivering clinical interventions, training parents, carers and staff from other agencies, and working with multi professional and multi-agency colleagues to support our children to achieve their best outcomes. No two days are the same, but each day counts. You will be providing specialist nursing skills, knowledge and expertise in the care and management of children and young people with complex epilepsy, particularly those on multiple anticonvulsants and receiving or referred to tertiary epilepsy care. You will support the child and young person, family and carers holistically, in response to their specific needs relating to epilepsy, maximising their independence and quality of life.
