The Geosciences division within RSK Group Ltd, is one of the UK’s largest environmental consultancies. Due to continued growth, RSK Geosciences now has an exciting opportunity for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join the growing team in Birmingham. Working alongside an experienced team you will get involved with a vast array of development projects. This is a full-time, permanent position. This exciting and challenging role will see you working on varied projects across the West Midlands, whilst being fully supported with access to industry leading training. Responsibilities: Participating in a variety of geo-environmental projects for both external clients and for other teams within RSK. Assisting with desk studies, ground investigations and materials management plans. Production of environmental management plans including Pollution Prevention and Surface Water Management Plans for construction sites. Soil logging to current UK standards, including laboratory scheduling. Experience of soil sampling plus water monitoring/sampling. Writing factual and interpretative reports. Geotechnical reporting requirements beneficial. Knowledge of contaminated land legislation and reporting requirements. Preparing factual site investigation data. Travel to other offices and sites within the UK (as needed). Qualification and Experience: BSc or equivalent in Geology, Environmental Science or similar. MSc desirable but not essential. Working towards membership of a relevant professional body with a longer term goal to move toward chartership with a relevant institution. Basic knowledge of planning legislation. Experience of site inspections and reporting, preferably on residential developments. Response / management of environmental incidents including, fuel/oil spillage, silt discharges, and effluent discharges desirable but not essential.
