Purpose of the Post:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SENDIASS Officer to join our team on a temporary basis, supporting the needs of the service until July 2025. This part-time role (3 days per week) will focus on delivering high-quality support to families of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), ensuring that they receive timely and appropriate assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop positive working relationships with pupils, parents, school staff, and external agencies.
Undertake assessments of children, young people, and families in line with statutory processes and regulations.
Provide guidance, advice, and information to parents, school staff, and other stakeholders.
Facilitate home-school liaison and ensure SEND support is provided in compliance with relevant legislation.
Mediate and resolve disputes between families, schools, and the Local Authority (LA).
Prepare documentation, witness statements, and represent cases at SEND Tribunal and Mediation.
Contribute to assessments and placements for pupils with SEND, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Work collaboratively with the wider team and assist with data collection.
Follow relevant national legislation and council policies, including safeguarding and data protection.
