Horticultural Manager – 8-Acre Glasshouse Nursery (Roydon)

We are seeking an experienced Horticultural Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our 8-acre glasshouse nursery in Roydon. As a family-run business, we value dedication, teamwork, and a passion for producing a high-quality crop. This role requires hands-on leadership, ensuring efficient production, staff management, and overall nursery success.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plant Cultivation: Oversee all aspects of plant care, including watering, fertilization, pest and disease control, pruning, and transplanting.
2. Inventory & Quality Control: Manage stock rotation, accurate labeling, and ensure plants meet high-quality standards.
3. Staff Management: Onboard, train, and supervise nursery staff, ensuring productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
4. Financial Oversight: Monitor budgets, control costs, and manage procurement of materials and supplies.
5. Compliance & Regulations: Ensure adherence to plant health certifications and environmental standards.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Strong horticultural knowledge, including pest and disease management.
2. Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
3. Physical ability to assist with hands-on nursery tasks when needed.
4. Several years of experience in a horticultural setting, ideally managing a large team.
This role includes weekend shifts but offers reduced hours or time off from October to January.
