An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Ward Manager within the Stroke department.
Our Stroke department has a reputation for the highest standards of clinical care. We are looking for a suitably experienced Nurse and Leader who is passionate about patient safety and the delivery of exceptional quality care to stroke patients.
Main duties of the job
A successful individual must be highly motivated to take on this challenge and meet head on the pressure to maintain high standards and delivery of quality care, whilst leading the nursing team.
The post holder will manage all aspects of clinical standards and professional practice within the service and will manage and coordinate staff budget resources and the environment.
You will help shape future services - working and supporting the Matron and Head of Nursing within specialist medicine.
To apply for this post you must have substantial experience as a Band 6 with Stroke experience. You must have excellent communication and strong leadership skills to uphold the standards and values of the trust.

Job responsibilities
Some of the core skills and responsibilities required include:
* Ensure that the nursing practices of the area comply with the Trust's Nursing policies and procedures and maintain high standards of nursing practice.
* Ensure delivery of infection control practice as defined by National recommendations and the Trust.
* To comply at all times with the NMC Code of Conduct (2008).
* Communicate effectively and liaise with all health care staff as appropriate.
* To co-ordinate the management aspects of the ward. Within that responsibility; plan, organise and deploy staff according to competencies and workload in order to meet patient needs. Ensuring quality and provision of care meets standards and achieves national based targets.
* Act as a mentor, preceptor & assessor to junior nursing staff, facilitating the implementation of the competency programme.
* Contribute towards the development of an effective learning environment within the clinical area.
