About this Position This is a contract role, likely to be a rolling 6-month contract. Job Responsibilities Main Function of the Role: The Field Equipment Painter will be responsible for surface preparation and painting of transformers, field equipment, and related infrastructure. The role involves working on-site at various locations across the UK to ensure transformers and associated equipment are properly maintained and protected from environmental exposure. The painter will work closely with Lead Engineers and Field Engineers to ensure timely completion of painting work scopes while adhering to company standards and safety protocols. Main Duties: Carry out all operations in accordance with the company health & safety policy. Ensure personal safety and that of others working in the area. Prepare surfaces for painting. Perform re-painting of transformers during refurbishment and maintenance works to a satisfactory standard, including: Surface preparation (cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming). Application of coatings, paints, and primers, ensuring proper thickness, adhesion, and finish. Use of spray guns, brushes, rollers, and other painting tools effectively and safely. Conduct inspections of painted surfaces to ensure quality standards are met. Follow and implement safety procedures, especially around hazardous materials and confined spaces. Implement new techniques and procedures to ensure the highest quality of work. Collaborate with field service teams to ensure painting is completed within project timelines. Maintain inventory of painting supplies and tools. Perform touch-ups, repairs, and refinishing of previously painted surfaces. Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding job progress, challenges, and solutions. Undertake fitting duties within transformer refurbishments, installations, and other associated works. Follow safety guidelines and use protective equipment as required. Ensure the immediate work area, surrounding factory space, and general working environment remain clean and tidy. Carry out any other reasonable ad-hoc duties or requests as instructed by the Line Manager or Management Team, provided adequate instruction and training have been given. Experience Required Qualifications & Skills: Experience with industrial painting, particularly in outdoor environments and on large equipment. Knowledge of various coatings, paints, and primers used in industrial settings. Ability to operate and maintain painting equipment, including spray guns, compressors, and scaffolding. Familiarity with safety practices when handling paints, solvents, and other hazardous materials. Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing, and working in confined or elevated spaces. Basic understanding of electrical equipment safety requirements (preferred but not mandatory). Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to different job sites
