Assistant Scada Engineer – Environment Water Technologies

Role Overview:
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant SCADA Engineer to join Galliford Try in Exeter. Reporting to the Galliford Try SI Operations Manager, supporting Southwest Water (SWW) Operational Technology team, you will be involved in the migration of legacy SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and addition and commissioning of new data to southwest waters regional SCADA.
We work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Legacy SCADA migration. Design, installation and commissioning.
Installing, repairing, and maintaining critical remote plant and process control systems, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of operational services.
Providing timely response to operational issues, performing onsite analysis, diagnoses and resolution of complex problems
Deliver assigned projects on-time and to cost (in accordance with Standards and contractual requirements).
Ensuring adherence to department information security policies within GallifordTry and SWW.
Engaging with SWW OT Delivery Manager and SWW OT Maintenance Managers, instrumentation, and SWW OT standards engineers to provide levels of technical detail that help to drive Industrial Control System (ICS) technical standards necessary to ensure we comply with relevant legislation, UK NIS (Network and Information Systems) directive, exploit technology and standardise implementations.
Experience and Qualifications:
An industry applicable ONC or City & Guilds / NVQ equivalent
Demonstrable experience of working within the water and / or sewage industries on SEMD frameworks
Relevant H&S qualifications (IOSH or CITB Day Site Safety Management, A relevant CSCS card and First Aid training)
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
Blue Water hygiene card
Experienced in the following programming languages identified by IEC -
1. Ladder Diagram (LD)
2. Function Block Diagram (FBD)
3. Structured Text (ST)
Providing advice and guidance on any matters in relation to electrical standards and control systems
Excellent IT skills – including, but not limited to, Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Databases.
Knowledge of SCADA systems.
/ split between being based either at home/in the office to being based on customer sites (UK only). When the demands of projects allow, you could be based from home - days a week.
Work to constantly improve efficiency of software production.
