Providing expert advice and direction on all aspects of safeguarding children young people and their families to ensure that health service contributions are co-ordinated and integrated across Manchester and further across Greater Manchester (GM). Work with and support the role of the Designated Nurse Safeguarding Children. Contribute highly specialised safeguarding knowledge to the strategic planning and commissioning of services, ensuring proportionate and effective contract monitoring, assurance, and performance management processes. Deputise for the Designated Nurse Safeguarding Children as required at Manchester Safeguarding Partnership (MSP) meetings and sub-groups, and other multi agency partnership meetings, as necessary. Work with all members of the Designated Team- Associate Director of Safeguarding, Quality & Nursing Designated Nurses, Specialist Nurses, Designated Doctors, and Named GPs. To support Named Nurses and Doctors across the health economy, and senior operational managers within health organisations (including independent practitioners), to develop a culture of continuous improvement ensuring that the delivery of the Safeguarding Children and Young People agenda remains a high priority. Provide a health perspective to the Manchester Safeguarding Partnership (MSP) represent NHS GM ICB leading and participating in appropriate subgroups and working closely with all statutory partners and all other organisations. Represent NHS GM ICB and the wider health economy within the Safeguarding Children Partnership and its sub-groups, leading and contributing to agreed priorities and work plans. Apply specialist knowledge and critical analysis to lead and coordinate the health contribution to case reviews, serious safeguarding incidents, challenge panels and other review / learning processes representing NHS GM ICB on review panels and practice learning events and ensuring learning is disseminated and used to inform service and practice development. Analyse and interpret findings from reviews and develop action plans based on evidence and for the improvements of measurable outcomes for children and adults to improve safety in conjunction with the MSP. Provide specialist advice and support to commissioners and service providers across the health economy in fulfilling their statutory responsibilities across the Safeguarding Children, Looked After Children and Adult Safeguarding agendas in conjunction with the Designated Safeguarding team. Work collaboratively with all members of the Designated Safeguarding Team in ensuring business continuity and cover. The post holder will be line managed by the Designated Nurse for Children but will retain accountability for their own actions and those of the person of whom they manage. The post holder will be responsible for using their own initiative in order to address safeguarding concerns whilst working under the supervision of the Designated Nurse and abiding by policies, procedures, andNHS GM ICB /MSP guidelines and the NMC code of practice. There is a statutory duty for Health Partners to share information with the Local Authority which is required for the safeguarding of a child (Working Together 2018) or an adult (Care Act 2014) in accordance with Information Sharing policies and procedures. This is the basis for information sharing by the health practitioner and a duty by which they must abide. The post holder will support, provide expert professional advice, and will develop effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders across NHS GM ICB and NHSE regionally and nationally.
