Our Theatre support workers play an essential role in the smooth running of our Recovery department, helping us maintain high quality patient care in a clean and safe environment.
Theatre support workers are part of our operating team who support the Recovery staff, participating as a member of the Recovery team to assist the staff and organize and clean equipment in the Recovery area.
You will need a supportive and flexible approach to service delivery and participate in the movement of clean/dirty equipment throughout the theatre complex.

To provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver safe, compassionate care, you will be required to complete the Health Care Assistant Apprenticeship Pathway, including the Care Certificate, a nationally recognized training framework from Skills for Health.
Main duties of the job
You will work as a member of the recovery team, providing valuable assistance and directly contributing to the safe and efficient care of patients within the operating theatres.
You will be responsible for ensuring the recovery environment is maintained and cleaned in accordance with Trust policies and departmental infection control standards.
You will assist in providing care to patients, under the supervision of operating department practitioners and qualified theatre personnel.
You may have to stand for long periods, which could exceed one hour, providing support and assistance to the recovery practitioner.
You will be required to be physically able to perform manual handling duties that may require intense effort frequently throughout your shift, such as positioning patients and moving equipment, beds, and trolleys.
You will need high concentration skills and the ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances during patient recovery.
You will be required to submit evidence of your qualifications for this position. If your qualifications were obtained overseas, please ensure that you acquire a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC to facilitate a clear understanding of how your qualifications align with UK standards.

Job responsibilities
Responsible for ensuring the recovery environment is maintained and cleaned in accordance with Trust policies and meeting departmental and infection control standards. You will assist qualified staff by undertaking a range of support duties under the direction and supervision of the recovery practitioner in charge.
Participate in departmental HCIA audits and ensure that the service requirements for maintaining a clean environment are met and cleaning schedules completed.

Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience of dealing with the public
* Understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality
* Previous experience of working in a recovery setting
* Basic understanding of infection control principles
Qualifications & Education
* Demonstrable numeracy and literacy skills in line with Level 1/Grade D/Grade 3 or above
* Basic IT skills
* NVQ Level 2 in care or BCNS
* Care certificate
* GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above OR Functional/Key skills level 2 in Maths and English
