This is an opportunity for a lead Instrument and Controls Engineer with expertise in Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) to work on a portfolio of Instrument & Control projects within this chemical manufacturing plant. The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge of instrument and control safety systems in terms of design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria and be able to work as part of a project engineering team to deliver technically complex ICSS projects. You must be a certified TUV Functional Safety Engineer. Ideally you will also have experience of cyber security for Industrial Automation & Control Systems (IACS) within a COMAH environment, e.g. oil & gas, petrochemical, refinery, chemical manufacturing. You will be involved with a portfolio of projects from CAPEX to minor modification and maintenance projects. You must be able to contribute to conceptual design, FEED (front end engineering and design), detailed design and execution. The role and responsibilities will include leading the project execution and delivery including budgeting, cost control, man hour estimates, working in conjunction with in-house design or EPC companies and managing all instrument and control equipment vendors. Duties will include but not be limited to: Generating multiple engineering design specifications detailing the requirements, deliverables and implementation strategy and defining the overall project plan and supporting the cost definition. Assisting with the design, review and approval of instrumentation related engineering deliverables, i.e. instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, datasheets, wiring drawings, loop drawings, P&ID’s, material requisitions, evaluation of alternatives and selection of instruments, calculations (control valve, flow elements, pressure safety valves), document control logs, bill of materials and instrument change approvals. Data collection and analysis with common database and software data analysis tools such as SAP, Analytics for Excel and Tableau. Reviewing, evaluating, and updating cause and effect, P&IDs, logic and architecture diagrams and control narratives. Selection, application, and ISA (International Society of Automation) data sheet specification of hardware including pressure / temperature / level instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, and fire & gas detection. Supporting project FATs (factory acceptance testing) including reviewing procedures, assigning resources, periodically attending FATs, and adjust commissioning scope to integrate FAT successes and deficiencies. Developing, tracking, and adjusting commissioning execution schedule. This role is Inside IR35. The rates advertised are PAYE. Candidates can also operate via an Umbrella company if preferred.
