Tan&Ns Wine Importers (pronounced Tannins) is a dynamic and growing wine import business, founded in 2021 with a vision to bring distinctive, high-quality wines to the UK market. We work closely with both emerging and established producers, offering a carefully curated portfolio to the on-trade and independent retail sectors.
With a strong operational base in Glasgow, we are expanding our sales team to enhance our presence across Scotland. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Executive to drive new business, strengthen customer relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of our company.
The Role
This is a commercially focused role for a sales professional with a strong background in the wine trade or FMCG sector. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, managing key accounts, and driving sales growth while maintaining the highest level of service.
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of wine, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to cultivate long-term business relationships. The ideal candidate will be proactive, strategic, and confident in their ability to represent our portfolio in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
* Business Development β Identify and secure new on-trade and independent retail accounts, expanding our reach across Scotland.
* Account Management β Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
* Commercial Performance β Deliver against sales targets while protecting margins and driving profitability.
* Portfolio Representation β Promote and present our wines with confidence, delivering tastings, training, and consultancy services to clients.
* Strategic Planning β Develop and implement sales strategies, contribute insights to the marketing team, and support wider business objectives.
* Industry Engagement β Represent Tan&Ns at trade events, tastings, and supplier visits.
* Cross-functional Collaboration β Work closely with logistics, imports, and operations to ensure seamless customer service.
What Weβre Looking For
* Wine Expertise β Strong knowledge of wine, ideally supported by WSET qualifications or equivalent experience.
* Sales & Commercial Acumen β Proven track record in B2B sales, ideally within the wine, hospitality, or FMCG industries.
* Relationship Builder β Skilled at developing lasting business relationships and influencing key stakeholders.
* Results-Oriented β Confident in setting and achieving commercial targets.
* Professional & Organised β Capable of managing multiple accounts and priorities efficiently.
* Technically Proficient β Comfortable with CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, and digital sales tools.
* Languages β Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in French or Italian is advantageous.
