The Executive Director of Portfolio Management supports the Operational Excellence Delivery Enterprise Portfolio Management team to vet, plan, execute and report progress on the corporate initiative portfolio. This role will play a key role in the unified PMO construct and internal investment governance model enabling operational excellence. The Exec DIR Portfolio Management proactively collaborates with Parexel internal project teams and others involved in the definition and delivery of the initiatives/investments.
General areas of responsibility include: support of project approval governance (inclusive of Governance Board review, PCR management and technology lifecycle alignment); support of portfolio prioritization; support of business case development (change requests and net new investment requests); support of portfolio health management & reporting; preparation and presentation of materials or internal meetings; management of communication between internal stakeholders.
The Exec Director Portfolio Managementwill contribute to the creation and improvement of templates, processes and systems for the governance of internal investments at Parexel.
The Enterprise Portfolio Management team serves under the Operational Excellence & Delivery Office, the execution and oversight body that ensures
the delivery of strategic priorities, drives operational excellence, delivers ROI and builds capabilities across the business.
Experience required
* Professional Experience in a CRO environment, ideally exposure to global corporate CRO projects
* Excellent program/project management and control skills.
* Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to summarize complex situations into key points.
* Strong influencing skills and ability to engage and lead teams.
* Highly motivated, self-starting, with strong results orientation.
* Strong verbal & written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills (mainly internally and often at higher levels).
* Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office software packages such as Teams, Excel, MS Project, Visio, PowerPoint, SharePoint.
* Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to take structured approach to varied work assignments.
* Strong team leader who is dedicated to making cross-functional, culturally di verse and geographically distributed teams successful.
* Excellent meeting facilitation and presentation skills.
* Aptitude to interface with all levels of staff, including top management.
* Proven relevant experience with managing large, complex portfolio programs in healthcare, consultancy, or contract research organization.
* Familiarity with project management methodologies ideally in combination with a background in a functional business area such as human resources, finance, accounting, marketing / sales or clinical studies.
* Experience running an IT PMO would be beneficial
* Advanced proficiency in corporate finance
* Line management experience is required
* Experience with organizational change management
Education
A bachelor’s degree in a science-related field, management or business
administration, with an advanced technical degree or MBA is desirable.
