This is a non-teaching position, supporting our most challenging and vulnerable students across the Academy. You will oversee our internal alternative provision, ensuring our students have the best possible provision to meet their needs, improve their attendance, reduce behaviour incidents and most importantly make great progress academically.
Strategic Leadership
· Act as the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for the mainstream academy, working closely with the school’s safeguarding team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
· Develop and implement the Academy’s inclusive education strategy, focusing on alternative provision students and alternative curriculums for mainstream students.
· Bring creative and innovative approaches to enhance engagement and learning opportunities for students facing complex barriers to education.
· Support the vision for inclusion practices that foster diversity, equity, and academic success.
· To liaise effectively with external agencies for key vulnerable students.
· To liaise with external providers including The Harbour School
Student Support and Wellbeing
· Work directly with a small case-load of students facing difficulties accessing education due to behavioural, emotional, or mental health challenges, developing personalised plans that facilitate their reintegration into mainstream education.
· Act as a key point of contact for students in alternative provisions, providing emotional and behavioural support.
· Collaborate with the SEND and Pastoral teams to create personalised support plans for students with complex needs, ensuring their academic, emotional, and social wellbeing.
· Work with students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to provide interventions that address social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, helping them engage positively with their education.
· Oversee attendance actions for at risk students including attendance plans, liaison with LA attendance team, attendance at severely absent meetings and school attendance panels
