We are currently recruiting a Maintenance Technician to deliver and sustain the reliability agenda outlined by the GL/PSM, providing first line support to all plant and process. Responsibilities: Leadership Support “Go for Zero” and GMP by role modelling safe, hygienic behaviours while carrying out prescribed duties. Maintain high expectation & champion processes to control standards in all areas of GMP, HSE, and Process etc. Stand in for the engineering group leader or the engineering planner as required. Periodically undertake additional duties or tasks that may be required by Group Lead or PSM toward aiding in the operation of the business. Flexibility required to work all shift patterns to cover holiday and sickness People Actively participate in all emergency response drills training and first aid training and activities and become proficient in the use of emergency response equipment such as breathing apparatus, chemical suits, and appropriate PPE. Ensure that all work being carried out is completed to a high standard, is visually acceptable and extends the life off the equipment. Respond to machine/equipment breakdowns immediately. Implement Continuous improvement projects and track such projects in terms of delivery, timeliness and cost. Strive to eliminate all areas of adjustment across equipment to reduce the potential for human error. Apply SMED principles. Use skills and knowledge for the early detection of failure and design out the occurrence of nuisance stops on equipment. Use advanced methods where appropriate to trouble shoot problems such as data capture from PLC’s, video camera recording, interrogation of OEE data, thermal imaging, ultrasonic testing, vibration analysis or other. Standard Work / Problem Solving Comply with regulatory, safety, environmental, customer, insurance, and hygiene procedures in the course of duties. Perform PPMs to standard as per schedule and record all activities and parts usage in the CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System (HolisTech). Maintain the Engineering shift report for recording all breakdowns and activities. Escalate priority issues within the prescribed timelines and apply containment measures as detailed in the site escalation procedure. Continuously look for ways to design out the need for manual interventions such as repairs or maintenance routines. If a maintenance routine is the best countermeasure, it should be designed in a way that allows it to be completed safely, hygienically, quickly, cost effectively and with the aim of maximising reliability. Create autonomous maintenance schedules as a first line of fault detection and train out to operations staff. Ensure timely repair of simple breakdowns, assist with root cause identification and solutions put in place to prevent repeated failures. Maintain 5S standard of the engineering workshop and stores Essential Criteria: Proficient written, numerical, and verbal communication skills Basic MS Office tools. Specialisation in a number of key core subject areas such as Facilities, Services, Electrics, Mechanics, Materials, Pneumatics or Automation and Control. Time served Engineering apprenticeship in a FMCG manufacturing environment with a recognised qualification (NVQ level 3 or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical engineering Appropriate Health and Safety Training. Desirable Criteria: Ability to solve problems using 8 Step thinking. Understanding and application of lean manufacturing or asset management principles. Extensive knowledge & understanding of specific manufacturing processes or equipment
