Schedule: 36 Hours (Nights / Every Third Weekend/Rotating Holiday)
ABOUT THE Med Surge Float Pool DEPARTMENT at St Elizabeth Medical Center
The Med/Surge Float RNs provide 24/7 clinical excellence for med/surge areas. Nurses must be flexible and versatile. They enjoy the challenge of the variety of experiences that the float pool provides. Float pool nurses care for medical and surgical adult populations. Float pool nurses rise to the challenge of opening and staffing surge units when necessary. Working in the float pool hones your med-surge skills and provides a clinical overview of SEMC that is unparalleled in any other med/surge area.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As an RN in the Medical Surgical Units, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve. There will also be opportunity for professional development by receiving your PCC Certification and working with step-down level patients that are on certain medical-surgical units.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Deliver nursing care in the Medical Surgical, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
2. Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
3. Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
4. Update and manage patient records
5. Enter and interpret computerized data/information
6. Follow guidelines and policies established by SEMC’s nursing organization
7. Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
1. Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
2. 1+ years of RN experience preferred
3. Certification in basic life support (BLS)
4. Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) completed during orientation.
5. PCC Certification required within 1 year of hire which is offered by the hospital.
6. Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
7. Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
8. Effective verbal and written communication skills
9. Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
10. Basic computer proficiency
11. Fluency in another language a plus
