Role Overview - What is it?
To join our Active Opportunity Pathway (AOP) services, working as part of the Support Team to help people experiencing homelessness and multiple disadvantages to overcome barriers to achieving greater independence.
As a Family Complex Needs Support Worker, you will support families and their children facing homelessness and with multiple needs, including issues like addiction, debt, hospitalization, disabilities, language barriers, and more.
You will provide tailored support, help access specialist services, and promote independence, adhering to the Making Every Adult Matter principles (MEAM). You will operate in a trauma-informed and strength-based manner to help families achieve positive outcomes in housing, health, and wellbeing. Your experience in accommodation-based settings with intensive housing and tenancy management will be crucial in supporting residents towards independence.
You should hold an NVQ Level 3 Childcare, Social Work, Social Care, Counselling, Youth Work, or Education Certificate.
This role offers the chance to deliver impactful support and shape a vital service, acting as an ambassador for The Housing Network, with a focus on respect and kindness.
Main Duties - What needs to be done?
* Build trusting relationships using a trauma-informed approach to develop support plans.
* Identify risks and design mitigation strategies based on your experience with disadvantaged populations.
* Engage proactively with residents, helping identify barriers and creating success plans.
* Ensure safeguarding policies are followed to protect individuals and the community.
* Maintain accurate records of support engagements, plans, and risk assessments for effective partnership working.
* Promote trauma-informed engagement across the service and develop colleagues' skills.
* Engage informally with residents to deepen understanding and improve support outcomes.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups to maximize outcomes and add value to the service.
* Deliver individual and group sessions to develop independent living skills, recording all activities.
* Manage a caseload effectively, ensuring residents receive appropriate support.
* Support residents in harm reduction and setting realistic, aspirational goals.
Intensive Housing Management:
* Work with colleagues to ensure maximum service utilization and balanced community referrals.
* Support referral, needs, and risk assessments, recording findings accurately.
* Assist residents with tenancy documentation and support rent management and financial literacy.
* Conduct regular inspections and support residents in developing independent living skills.
Relationships - Who will I be working / engaging with?
* Internal: Support colleagues, maintenance teams, leadership, and residents.
* External: Local authorities, third sector, statutory partners, housing officers, and employment agencies.
Competencies - Who with and your skill level?
* Extensive experience working with disadvantaged individuals or families.
* Experience in accommodation-based services, rent management, and move-on support.
* Ability to operate in a trauma-informed, strength-based manner.
* Proficiency in support planning, risk assessments, and engaging impactfully with individuals and groups.
* Strong safeguarding knowledge and ICT skills, with high accuracy.
* Excellent communication skills for engaging external partners and advocating for residents.
* NVQ Level 3 in relevant fields is required.
General and Additional
* The role may evolve; responsibilities are indicative and subject to review.

* Compliance with policies and participation in meetings are expected.
* Travel across the UK may be required; a valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle are necessary.
* Flexible working including weekends and bank holidays may be required.
