Chief Executive Officer: Lee Wilson
Lead Principal: Andy Scruby
Associate Principal: Vicky Gray
We are an 11-18 academy based just north of the large, friendly, South Yorkshire town of Doncaster.
We have been a member of the Outwood Family since 2009, and in our latest 2023 Ofsted inspection the academy was graded Good in all categories. The inspection noted ‘the school has a supportive and caring culture. Staff build supportive and friendly relationships with pupils. Pupils achieve their full potential and staff feel proud to work at the school’.
We offer a holistic education that makes learning stimulating, engaging and enjoyable for every student, raising ambition for all our students.
The inspectors were equally complimentary about our sixth form provision, with a wide range of courses on offer; including A Levels, vocational qualifications and T-levels. In our drive for exceptionality, the academy will become a specialised setting for T-Levels in September 2025.
We have also won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, in addition to being an IQM Centre of Excellence for 3 years, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.
We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.
All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.
If you share our vision, join our family.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious Music Teacher. Excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject is essential. You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.
At Outwood Academy Adwick our students are at the heart of our Academy and students thrive within the very successful and highly performing department within Creative Arts. This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic and driven professionals to join our Family of Schools at Outwood Academy Adwick.
Creative arts is a beacon of Outwood Academy Adwick. Our students build skills and confidence for life throughout the visual and performing arts. Students thrive due to staff’s constant drive to push them out of their comfort zones, this is evident through our yearly events such as Christmas Concerts, Talent Shows, Stage Invasion, our Trust wide concerts and more. We are seeking a practitioner who is driven to contribute to our department's successes. You must be enthusiastic and determined to make a significant difference to the lives of our students and share our single goal of ‘students first’.
The department consists of 5 enthusiastic and inspiring staff members who specialise in teaching; art, photography, music and dance. The experienced staff in the department includes a Vice Principal and also the academy’s SENCo. This brings a huge benefit to the already outstanding department as we can collaborate ideas, input strategies/interventions, reflect and develop to ensure even better progress for our students. Our team collaborates together for constant improvement to get the best outcomes. The delivery of our courses and projects is constantly reviewed and personalised which supports our year on year of successful outcomes. Our 2024 results were outstanding across BTEC Level 2, GCSE and BTEC level 3.
We are a friendly and welcoming department who work to support one another and our students. CPD is constant across creative arts at Adwick. We are fortunate to have two directors who work across the Trust and support us through providing standardisation training, time to collaborate with other staff across the family of schools, and promote and plan Trust wide creative competitions giving our students opportunities to showcase their talents.
Our Music department is equipped with the latest technology, equipped with a full Apple Mac suite with use of Garageband, DJ mixer boards, bass, guitars, keyboards, drum kits, ukuleles, Djembe drums, and various other percussion instruments. Our academy has links and support within the Music Industry across Doncaster. We were awarded a Musical Futures badge in 2018. The prestigious title provides staff access to resources, content and workshops to build our students skills.
We are looking for a skilful practitioner who will push and develop our students with passion and rigour. We encourage applicants to view our facilities and our department before applying.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our Creative and innovative team and collaborate with us to drive our department to be even more successful.
