The primary purpose of this role is to support the mechanical trades operations and maintenance work across the Trust’s sites as directed by line management. This includes activities that are demanding and/or non-routine, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards, policies, and procedures.
The key areas of focus are to implement the planned building maintenance programmes for the Trust ensuring compliance with key standards, both legislative and performance related (as defined through the Service Level Agreement) – also meeting where necessary the requirements of the NHSLA (National Health Service Level Agreement).
The post holder will be responsible for contributing towards the development, implementation and review of the Trust’s Estates plans and work closely with the other Estates Managers/team Leaders in the development of works programmes across the workshop.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervise trade works applicable to mechanical disciplines, i.e. heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, pressure systems, water management, medical gases.
2. Supervise works carried out in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment. Ensure risk assessments are completed as appropriate.
3. Directly supervise the mechanical operational staff at the Headington Hospitals sites as per management structure chart.
4. Deputise for the Estates Mechanical Manager as per management structure chart.
5. Contribute to the development, implementation and review of the Trust’s Estates plans and work closely with the other Estates Managers/team Leaders in the development of works programmes.
6. Plan maintenance activities, including staff rotas, allocating staff and physical resources. Manage out of hours essential maintenance.
7. Plan and schedule major interruptions, maintenance activities and co-ordinate the work of contractors including liaison with users.
8. Monitor performance of contracts, taking effective steps to ensure that acceptable levels of service and values for money are achieved.
9. Actively participate in the wider team operation and control of planned maintenance schemes.
10. Exchange and communicate sometimes complex building project-related information internally and externally with specialists and non-specialists.
